Oh the weather outside is frightful...

You know what's a lot of fun?

Going on a candy cane hunt!

You know what's not quite as fun?

Going on a candy cane hunt when it's only 35 degrees outside!

We went on a candy cane hunt Saturday. (Just in case you didn't already figure that out.)

It was freezing. (Again, stating the obvious.)

We saw Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Jack and Melody assured him that they had been well-behaved all year. Jack said he wanted a scooter and Melody told him she wanted a cupcake. Santa actually looked a little surprised at that request.

Then we went on a candy cane hunt.

And walked around a little, visiting with friends.

This was the only picture I got.

Because my hands were literally frozen. Frozen.

(No, we didn't wear gloves. For some reason I just couldn't comprehend that it was actually going to be that cold.)

Thanks goodness the fire is so delightful. And thawed my fingers enough to let me snap this one shot.

After enjoying our marshmallows, we left to thaw out with cups of hot chocolate.
That's how I like to spend my winter.

After removing all our layers, of course. Charlie's arms were literally sticking straight out he had so many layers on. I wish I had a picture of that. But no mittens, of course.

It's been cold around these parts too. I think it was 28 this morning when I took the kiddos to school/daycare.

A candy cane hunt sounds like a wonderful thing! But alas, too cold here to do something like that.

I've never heard of a candy cane hunt, but it sounds fun. We went to the zoo last night and it was cold. Caleb was shivering and I have Jamison really layered because she gets cold so easily. Hmmm, hot chocolate.

Brrrrrr....that does look cold. Makes me thankful for not being here. Wait, it snowed in Houston. Never mind.

And, the jackets on babies are ridiculous, aren't they?

I bet you guys were miserable. There is not much worse than freezing your butt off and having no escape. I hope Melody gets her cupcake for Christmas. :)

What is a candy cane hunt? Is that like an Easter egg hunt?

Candy Cane hunts - that's a new one! Sounds like fun though! Sorry you were cold. Guess I am so used to the weather "potentially" being cold that I have like 5 extra pairs of mittens or gloves in my car at all times!

It sounds like so fun. I think I might do the candy cane hunt with my kids. Cute idea.

35 is not freezing. LOL It's 5 degrees above. *ahem* I had to take kids to and from school today because the HIGH was zero and it got down to double digits BELOW zero. Tomorrow is gonna be worse. Arctic blasts are on blue light special here.

Melody's coat is DELICIOUS! And her little beanie hat with flower?? OMG! God is going to give me a girl again, next, so I can buy delicious things again. I just know it.

I'm off to read all the other posts I missed in my absence because you, my friend, are one witty woman I don't like to miss catching up with. Thanks for hanging in there during my funk.

Yes, it was cold here too for our parade and I was wearing the gloves with the fingers cut out so I could get pictures, haha! I love Melody's little winter outfit, how adorable! All the layers make me think of The Christmas Story, haha! :)

I was also curious about what exactly you do in a candy cane hunt. Sounds like fun! My kids love to roast marshmallows! They've been begging! Maybe we can have a candy cane hunt, eat some marshmallows AND have hot chocolate. Perfect Christimas activity.

Just wanted to make sure you got the blog snow info. I got the snow code here:

Let me know if you need any other info!

A Candy Cane hunt? What a great idea! We'll have to do that. I do agree though, it would be much more enjoyable in 60 degree weather. Oh to live in FL. :)
