hats

I decided to enter this weeks I Heart Faces contest. The category is hats. This picture is Jack sitting in the dugout right before his first t-ball game. We wear hats a lot, so I had a ton of pictures to choose from, but I just really liked this one. Jack always wears his hat a little too high (in my opinion!) on his forehead and pushed down in the back making his ears stick out just a little. To me, he looks like just a cute little elf whenever he wears a ball cap.

random picture challenge and catching up

This was May of 2006. We were at Webb and Lindsey's wedding in Dothan, AL. I posted a few more pictures just beacuse we had such a fabulous weekend. My mom kept Jack for us...he was not quite two yet. Alex and I got to Dothan early Friday in time for the guys to play golf and Stephanie and I to catch some rays in Panama City before the reherseal dinner. Saturday we hit the beach again, this time with the guys and our friends Chip and Luann. Yes, I got a shrimp po'boy at some point. I don't go near the beach without getting at least one!

Saturday night was the wedding. It was definitely one of the top 3 contenders for "best wedding I've ever been too"...excluding mine, of course, which takes the cake hands down. The bride and groom were completely in love.

We saw lots of old friends and partied well into the night. Definitely one of those weekends that were so good we still talk about it!

Oh, and if you haven't figured it out yet...my sunglasses are the 'brown' in the photograph!

Ok, on to other stuff. I feel like I have been MIA. This week was super busy for me. It was Kindermart week. Kindermart is the fundraiser for Jack's preschool. This year I got roped into joining the committee. It was a blast, but took a lot of time. A lot. Along with my first year as a committe member, this is the first year I have shopped too. I have heard stories of great consignment sale buys but am not the best bargian shopper due my
This is my favorite purchase. A Cozy Coupe. I actually go two. One for our house and one for my parent's place. Do you know what these things retail for? Amazon.com has them listed for $49.99. I paid less than $20 for each. My kids were thrilled and have been playing with them non-stop.

My other favorite purchse was this hat for Melody. She's been wanting a baseball hat like her brothers. I found this one; it's Gymboree (which is pretty much my favorite store) and it still had the tags on it! Deal! It's hard to tell in the picture, but it's yellow gingham and has a little purple and green pineapple on the side. It also ties in the back instead of the regular baseball hat look. She looks adorable in it even though it makes her look like she has even less hair! And more importantly, it'll help keep the sun off her fair skin.

I did get another fun toy for Jack but that's for another post. It comes with a funny story and a video.

Here is a brief Charlie update. We have made more paci progress! Yes! Friday afternoon when I went to get him up from his nap he had a different paci in his mouth than the one I laid him down with. Yes, friends, he put the paci in by himself while in the crib.
I believe this was the turning point for him because last night he slept for 12.5 hours STRAIGHT. Which means that I got 8 whole hours of sleep at one time. I felt like a new woman. I felt like I was 29 again.
We'll see if this trend continues. I've bragged about it so much I've probably jinxed myself and he'll wake up 3 times tonight.

Lastly
Feel free to stare at him as long as necessary and go here if you need more.Posted by Emily at 12:54 PM 10 comments

random picture challenge
February 2009
or
1st Folder
1st picture not of your kids
This is the construction site at my parents house. They put in a pool when they moved to Madison and it is fabulous! I put an after picture at the bottom so you can see the final product. We now refer to this as 'Resort Mitchell'. Not only are there 5 star amenities but a babysitter (aka Grammy) is also included!

random picture challenge
September 2007
11th picture

This is my sweet Jack who had turned three that summer. Jack was playing with these fabulous lacing beads. Jack received them as a 2006 Christmas gift from Aunt Marsha and we still love them now. They are great for building fine motor skills, teaching those little fingers how to manipulate them onto the string, and we also love to stack and sort them. They are just one of those great toys that we pull out over and over. In this particular picture, Jack was trying to look through the little hole...as you can see, he hadn't quite gotten the idea yet!

March 2008
4 Little Men and Girly Twins has given us another random picture challenge...
It's the 5th picture from the end in the March 2008 folder.
I actually didn't take this picture, my friend Kirsten did. We used to swap off watching the girls one morning a week so we would each have a free day. I was about 11 weeks pregnant with Charlie when this was taken, so I was probably at home throwing up! Anyway, that's Melody on the left. She was almost 14 months there. Ellie, on the right, is Kirsten's daughter and was 18 months. We had been trying to get a decent shot of the girls together, but as most of you know, much easier said than done with two toddlers! In this case, it was Ellie who was cooperating; Melody was not! Ellie had just enough hair for little ponytails. You should see all that she has now! Melody still doesn't have what Ellie did last March! I know, I know, I'm obsessed with Melody's hair!
They are both so cute, it's hard to believe how much they have grown as they are both over two now!

August 2007
Here's today's random picture challenge courtesy of 4 little men.
This picture is the 30th picture taken from in August 2007....
This is our niece, Anna Grace, holding Melody. AG was almost 8 and Melody was 7 months. We were visiting the Powell family in Birmingham for a few days and then went onto Jackson to visit the Mitchells for a few days. The little dress Melody is wearing was one of my favorites...it's kind of hard to tell, but it has little pineapples on it. Melody really looks like Charlie to me in this picture.

January 2008
So, 4littlemen has posted another random picture challenge...the 8th picture in January's folder.
This is my sweet Melody sitting on her new chair she got for Christmas. She was only 11 months then and now she's almost two!! I think she's bald now but she's got serious hair compared to a year ago!

21
Anyway, the idea is to go into your May 2008 picture folder and post the 21st picture
This picture was taken one day when Melody and I went to Auburn to have a girls' day with my friend Lauren and her daughters Libby and Emma Jane. We were trying to get a picture of EJ and Melody but, as we suspected, it's not possible to get a 14 month and a 15 month old to look at the camera at the same time...or even look at the camera at all...or even stay in the chair where they were placed.
