Tree down!

Last week we went to visit our favorite friends in Tampa and, among other fun things, spent a day at Disney! Don't worry, I have several posts about Disney coming in the next few days.

However, we had a surprise waiting for us when we came back.

On Thursday night intense storms went through Atlanta. A friend told me that it was the worst he's seen in the 26 years he's lived here and that it sounded like a tornado going through.

He wasn't so far off. When we returned, we found a large tree in our backyard had been practically uprooted by the storm.
Aside from the fact that took out three other smaller trees and part of our neighbors fence, I was also really sad because it was a really great, old tree. I feel like our yard's kind of bare without it.

The kids, however, have been having a great time. It's perfect for jumping off of.

And for climbing in. And pretending to be a fort, boat, treehouse, etc.

They were mildly very disappointed when the tree guys came to cut it up and carry it away today.

Our Swiss Family Robinson days were pretty short lived.

Oh man! That stinks. I know what it is like to have a bare yard...none of our trees are much taller than me:) It looks like the kiddos had a fun time playing on it though!

You are so lucky it fell away from the house! We had a tree fall on our roof after a bad storm/tornado when I was very little. It was scary!

I'm glad everything's okay, even if the fun tree is gone now.

I'm glad you are all OK and it didn't damage your home. I'm sure you're sorry to see the tree(s) go. Hey, look at you at almost 100 followers!!!

Wow! That's a huge tree! Bummer, but at least you didn't get any other damage.

Wow, thank goodness you guys weren't home during that terrible storm. That doesn't sound like it was a very calm one at all.

Bummer about loosing your tree.

Glad nothing more then a fence got broken. When we lived in Mesa we came back home after a vacation to find our tree split down the middle, it was crazy

Oh no, what a way to return home :( That's a real bummer! I'm glad the kids gave it a proper farewell :) Hopefully you can all plant a new tree together and watch it grow up!

Sooo exciting for kids! I'm glad no one was hurt!

That must have been some amazing wind to knock that puppy over!

Love the pictures of the kids jumping off it - they can make fun out of anything! :)

Kids and their imaginations can make fun out of everything! I'm sorry you lost the tree though. Thank goodness there were no injuries or damages other than that.

Wow! That's crazy. Did it ruin anything, or just the tree?

Glad nobody got hurt and the kiddos got to enjoy playing with it.

We had a similar thing happen while I was growing up :) It was sad to see it go but pretty soon the yard had a new normal look :)
