What I Learned From Disney On Ice...

Last night, Melody and I went to Disney On Ice.  Just like the last time we went, it was magical!

 

And full of life lessons. Below are four important things I took away from my Disney experience.

1.  It is totally ok and normal to scream with excitement when you see a princess.  Melody and I both did.  And I may have gotten a little teary too.

2.  I want Jasmine's body.  Seriously, this chick is solid.

(You can't really see from the pictures, and she's upside down anyway, but believe me, I could see every single ab muscle.)

 

3. I want my life to be just like a Disney movie.  I already have my crown and everything.  See?

 

 

4.  I already have my Prince Charming. (Yes, I know I'm totally being cheesy here!)

Glasses

As if it wasn't hard enough on my sappy heart when she turned 5...

she had to go and get glasses and look even older!

Melody picked out her glasses herself.  She chose the ones with the Princess Jasmine charm on them.  Shocker, I know.  The glasses case is fashioned like a purse with a little jewel clasp. She is in full glasses-heaven.

Disney-mania

Upon entering, Cinderella's castle is the first sight we saw.

We headed over to Tomorrow Land and our first ride, which also happened to be Jack's favorite, was the Buzz Lightyear ride. He repeatedly asked (only about a million times) to ride it again through out the day.

After Buzz Lightyear, Lauren and I took Jack and Libby to ride Space Mountain. I had neglected to warn Jack how insanely pitch black it is. He was practically shaking when he got off the ride. (Yes, I felt terrible for him.) Thankfully, the next day, he said he was just pulling our legs and loved the roller coasters. I'm glad to know he wasn't scared for life!

Melody and Emma Jane weren't upset that they had to miss out on the wild rides...they had a blast in Minnie's house instead!

We needed a break from the heat, so we went to Mickey's PhilharMagic Show, which was a lot of fun.

The kids were hilarious with the 3-D. Melody almost swooned when Ariel looked to be practically sitting in her lap and Jack kept trying to grab the images.

And then Melody noticed the Carousel and was very excited and wanted to ride it right away!

Jack finally wore us down and we let him ride the Buzz Lightyear ride once more right before we left. When we came out, who should be loitering around Tomorrow Land but Buzz himself! All the kids, except Emma Jane, were thrilled!

We already can't wait to go back!!

PSF and a moment to remember

A few days ago I blogged about the fact that we went to Disney last week. (And, yes, I realized I have not made good on my promise of more pictures.)

While visiting the Magic Kingdom, Melody had one of those moments in life that she we will remember forever.

Yes. She met the Disney Princesses.

She saw her favorite princess, Aurora, first.

I was trying not to cry and she was just completely speechless.

Princess Aurora asked her name and Melody just stared.
She then asked her age and Melody said, "uhhh."
And finally Melody just hugged and hugged her.
She found her voice as we were walking away, turned and said, "I love your crown!"

Next was Cinderella. I think the shock had worn off by then and Melody was actually able to carry on a conversation.

By the time she met Belle, it was as if she was meeting a fellow monarch.

Jack was very excited for his sister.

Or something like that.

Any guesses as to what she picked out at the gift shop?

And I came home and immediately submitted my princess application.

Yes, it was one of the best days of her our life!

Flora, Fauna, Merryweather and a giveaway

In my recent post about my addiction to Facebook the hilarious Facebook material Melody supplies me, I mentioned fairies.

Specifically, Melody putting fairies in her pants.

Many of you wondered what type of fairies I was referring to.

So, I give you, the infamous fairies, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather.

Yes, the Sleeping Beauty fairies.

No wonder they were so easy to get lost in one's pants.

See how small they are?

(No, that is not a giant sized matchbox car. It's just a regular sized one.)

Funnily enough, they actually came with this really cool Princess Aurora doll.

Melody doesn't play with her as much as the fairies though. Maybe it's because she thinks she's Princess Aurora.

And speaking of fun toys, my IRL friend, Sierra, (mommy of sweet baby Jane) is hosting her first giveaway.

Trick-or-Treat!

Happy Halloween! At the Powell house we've had quite a cast of characters.

After watching Bambi a few months ago, Jack has been all about being a hunter. I was nervous when he watched Bambi that the hunter scene would disturb him. Instead that was his favorite part, he told me. That's just great.

And may I present Princess Aurora. Some of you might have wondered, after reading this, if I forced this costume on her. No, I did not. Melody also thinks that Princess Aurora is the best princess. She is doing her best princess wave in this picture. Very regal, I think.

And here is little Charlie as Superman. Although Bizarro Superman is more accurate.

And there he goes...off to destroy save the world!

While I did not get any pictures of actual Trick-or-Treating since it was raining the whole time (um, yeah, that was fun). However I did get some video of them analyzing their stash.

the power of shoes

My mom is the greeting card queen; she's always on the lookout for funny, appropriate greeting cards. As a result of her greeting card obsession, every once in a while, I will get one in the mail. Now, I am not a greeting card person. I mean, I like them and all but they're just not something I'm super into.

A while ago though she sent me one that really just put life in perspective for me.

This picture is on the front along with these words: Once she was a lowly housemaid dressed in rags. Now she's got a fairy godmother, she's filthy rich, and she lives in a palace with her dreamboat husband.

(You may or may not know that I'm a Disney Princess fanatic. I even wanted to name Melody after Sleeping Beauty. Alex nixed that idea).

On the inside it says this (which is basically my person motto): It's further proof, my friend, that the right shoes CAN change your life!

PSF - magic blocks

Santa brought Charlie some foam blocks for Christmas...he got them at Hobby Lobby for anyone who's interested. Charlie's not quite old enough to play with them yet, but my other two cannot get enough of them. Literally it's all they play with. Not only do they play with them but they play together and they play nicely. Truly they are magic blocks.

They mostly stack them...Jack enjoys building castles for his "friends" whom he has named after Disney Princesses. From left to right we have; Princesses Cinderella, Ariel, and Aurora. Sometimes he puts a little linky toy around Ariel to give her a fish tail. Yes, this princess obsession does drive my husband crazy.


Now, I haven't tried this, but apparently they make a great snack.

princesses!

Melody is finally starting to get into dress up and princesses and I am so excited! This is really one of the best parts about having a girl. Her favorite princesses are Cinderella and Ariel (although I'm still pushing for Sleeping Beauty to take over the #1 spot). She got several princess dress up clothes from P3 for Christmas. Here she is in her Cinderella dress...sitting on a little stool with the dress poofed out around her. All she's missing is the long blond hair!
