PSF - cars!

My son Jack loves cars. He fell in love with them right around age 2. In fact, motorized vehicles and anything John Deere are his favorite things even today. When he was about two he started to collect them. Well, actually, he didn't collect them as much as people knew of his great love for cars and just couldn't seem to come visit him without bringing him cars or take him somewhere without letting him get a new one. Really, could you resist this face?

He would spend all day racing his cars, organizing them according to color, or make, or model, parking them in amazingly organized "parking lots". He would make "caw-ca-wree-ers" (car carriers) by stacking one car on the top of the other.

We also started making shapes with our cars. (That's Melody in the bumbo around 3 or 4 months of age.)

The other day Jack was sharing his cars with Melody, (shocker, I know) and apparently the love of cars is genetic. She said to me, "Look, Mama! I fix da cahs!" I looked over and...yes, car organization had started. She has been obsessed with organzing her cars by color ever since. At least today she was doing it wearing her Princess Aurora dress! With this kind of influence on Charlie I can only imagine the cars that are in my future!

Charlie's newest thing is grrrrowling all. the. time. It's hilarious. You have to turn up the volume to hear it. We can't decide if he's more like E.T. (Charlie phone home!) or a Jawa. I know, I know, my Wednesday was not very wordless!

Stella Baby

This is Baby Stella

Baby Stella was a birthday gift for Melody. As we all know, not all dolls are created equal and this one is definitely above par! Not only is she absolutely adorable, but she's just all around soft and sweet. I also think her hair is a lot like Melody's {grin}. She comes with all kind of fun things; a nightie, booties, two hairbows, baby food, bottle, bib, and a paci. Both kids have a lot of fun playing with Baby Stella. Although my favorite is when Melody "nurses" Stella; She will hold her flat on her back and up to her chin! It's too cute.

it's a blizzard!!

This weekend, Jack and Melody went to Birmingham for a visit with their Captain and P3. When we headed over there today to pick them up we had no idea a blizzard awaited us! Leaving Atlanta, the temp. was a balmy 48*. Saturday had been quite mild...I had even worn short sleeves that day. When we hit the Alabama state line, the temperature had dropped to about 34*. Soon the snow started falling. About an hour outside of Birmingham this is what our part of the world looked like.

It actually got so bad on I-59 that we had to exit off early. Fortunately, the surface streets were in better conditions. I was a little worried that we were going to get stuck there! We frequently saw people spinning off the road and crashing into wooded areas.

While we waited for the rest of the crew to arrive at our meeting spot, Cracker Barrel, we got some shots of Charlie in the snow. Alex made him a small snowball.

He liked it until his hands got wet.

We had a great time hearing all about the fun weekend and getting a little visit in with Captain and P3.

Then, as quickly as the snow came, it left. This is what it looked like leaving Birmingham.

While we were gone, Atlanta got a light covering as well.

Melody absolutely loves snowmen. Whenever she see's one, she's joyfully shouts, "A snow-maaan!" (say that with a very strong southern accent). Alex went out to make one to give her the opportunity to see an actual snowman. The kids were somewhat impressed, but a little distracted as they were making sure no snow touched any part of their being. How funny is it that they are scared of snow?! This morning, as it was falling at Captain and P3's house, Captain said it took forever to convince them to go out in it. Then, as soon as Jack did go out, he promptly went back in to change his wet socks!

our first tooth!

Our little Charlie's first tooth poked through yesterday! I noticed it in Cracker Barrel, where I proceeded to exclaim (really loudly), "Oh! Look! Charlie got his first tooth!" Alex then told me I needed to simmer down, you know, since we were in Cracker Barrel and all. Then I got all teary eyed. Teary eyed over a tooth. Totally justified seeing as how it's my last baby's first tooth! Of course, then I realized I was acting like my mother and got myself under control. I tried to get a picture of the tooth but Charlie clamped his mouth shut every time I snapped the picture. So, you'll just have to settle for these adorable picture of our little boy!
