If you're a frequent reader on my blog, you're aware of my son's love of books.
A few weeks ago, right before school ended, they had Character Day, where each student came dressed as a favorite character from a book they read.
Jack initially wanted to be Batman and wear his Batman jammies.Unfortunately, he hasn't actually read a Batman book so that wouldn't work.
Then, much to mydelight dismay, he began listing all the Dr Seuss characters he liked. I was pretty nervous as I know I'm not talented enough to sew a Thing 1 or Thing 2 costume. Please. I can barely sew a button.
I was thrilled when he decided to go as Jack, from the Magic Tree House series.
Who better, after all?!
The only part of the costume we were missing were Jack's glasses.
Thankfully, Captain had left a pair of reading glasses here a few weeks ago so we popped out the glass and viola!
A perfect Jack.

He is so cute. Love it.
He looks great! My son was Dr. Seuss once and I put baby powder in his hair to make it gray. What a mess! What a mistake!
So cute! That would be a hard one to pick...so many great choices. One of the Dr. Seus characters would be really fun...maybe Fox in Socks:)
What a great character to pick and so easy!
I love this Julie! What a fun thing to do at school.
My favorite book character is Jo from Little Woman. She is my Mom's favorite character too!
Aw that is just so cute.
What a hoot! He looks adorable with those glasses.
how cute, what a great idea. I have no idea who I would pick!! better star reading more books!
He is just one handsome young man.
Too cute. I like him in the glasses...LOL he is adorable and looks rather smart:)
What a great choice.
I love Amber Brown
My son concurs -- you've created a very good Jack.
My favorite character? It's a toss up: Huck Finn, and Ebenezer Scrooge.
He's so so cute!! Gracie was supposed to dress up like her favorite character during the last week of school too. And, I totally forgot and dropped the ball (again). Thankfully she thinks on her feet and told everyone she was dressed as Katie Kazoo. Whew.
what a cute bookworm..
my favorite character? I can't even decide who my fave character is!
Awwww, such a cutie! Um, my fave character is Edward. ;)
My friend's son loves those books as well. He is adorable and I think that's such a fun idea.
Oh my gosh, Jack is so cute :)
One of my favorite sets of books when I was growing up were the "Amelia Bedilia" books. Haha, Can you imagine trying to dress up as her? :) That would be fun.
Awww, I love that! Reading is so much fun! I just asked Abby and Emma and they said Fancy Nancy was their favorite.
Yes it is nice when they make life easy. :)
I hope that someday Hayden likes books as much as Jack! Layla loves books, she reads them like crazy...Hayden tries to eat them. Uggh!!

Great easy costume! Too many characters to list!
Jack as Jack. Awesome!
(and whew, no sewing, eh?)
Oh yeah!!!! He looks great! I love it!
I am with you on the sewing thing. I REALLY need to learn how to sew. Just for simple things like curtains and hemming pants and stuff. It would be such a HUGE help!
Quite the perfect outfit. Thank goodness for the accidentally left glasses.
Oh yeah! I've been waiting to hear about this! He DOES make the perfect Jack!
